Tómas R. Einarsson: UNDIR4
Terms & conditions
Description
Undir 4 is Icelandic and means two persons talking intimate matters (under 4 eyes).
The music on the Icelandic bassist´s Tómas R. Einarsson´s CD is meditative; four tracks out of seven could be called Nordic ballads.
The main soloist is the Danish trumpeter Jens Winther, one of the most lyrical of European trumpeters, who has worked with Joe Henderson and Carla Bley. Danish and Icelandic critics welcomed Winther´s interpretation of the Icelander´s ballads as particularly sensitive. The review of the critic Boris Rabinowitsch in the Danish daily Politiken had the headline “Brilliance” (Politiken 19/8 2002).
“Einarsson´s bass sound and his very lyrical sense gives the music a beautiful coherence and an effortless power.”
Thorbjörn Sjögren, Jazz Special # 106 (Denmark),
2009.
"Undir 4" is without doubt one of the best CD´s made by an Icelandic jazz musician."

"The final track, "Hjartalag", is a jewel... Listening to it makes one proud of Icelandic jazz... I doubt that there will be released a better jazz CD in Iceland for some time."
